Prof Irma Eloff is the founder and lead facilitator of the continental African Deans of Education Forum (ADEF).  She serves on the UNESCO International Task Team for Teacher Education.  She was the seventh dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Pretoria and also the first woman to hold this position.  In 2012 she was chosen amongst the top three Most Influential Women in Business and Government in South Africa - in the Education category.  Irma has worked for the transformation of educational systems in both her research and academic leadership roles.  In July 2014 she won the international Prize for Excellence in HIV Research Related to Children from the International AIDS Society (IAS) and the Coalition for Children Affected by AIDS, in Melbourne.

She is a registered educational psychologist and a rated social scientist.  She is a past President of the Education Association of South Africa and currently the Deputy-chair of the Council of the SA Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns (South African Academy of Arts & Sciences)She has co-authored the book, Life Skills & Assets and she is co-editor of the book Keys to Educational Psychology.

During her term as dean, Education at the University of Pretoria achieved a ranking in the top 150-200 of the world on the World QS World university rankings for five consecutive years.
Prof Cyprien Niyomugabo

Prof Cyprien Niyomugabo is Dean in the School of Education at the University of Rwanda – College of Education and Chairman of the Rwanda Academy of Language and Culture. He is also Chairman for Kinyarwanda-Kirundi-Giha – Gihangaza of the African Academy of Languages (ACALAN) Commission in the African Union. He holds a PhD in Linguistic Science Education. His research focus areas are mainly bilingual education, mother tongue and second language education, glottopolitics in education and lexicography with application to African languages’ teaching and learning.
